Truth be told, as we didn't do much research beforehand, we went to Kintan Yakiniku located at Pacific Place, SCBD, only to find out the bitter truth that it is different and they don't serve buffet menus there. Words couldn't explain how disappointed we were (and hungry) at that time, so without any further ado afterwards, we went straight towards Emporium Pluit Mall for the long-awaited buffet dinner. Yes, we took the extra effort to move from South Jakarta to North Jakarta for the sole sake of it.
From what we have observed from the menu, they have 4 different sets for us to choose from, with different prices for adults, senior citizens, and children:
1. Regular Buffet (10 Dishes)
Adult IDR 188,000
Senior IDR 158,000
Child IDR 128,000
2. Kintan Buffet (18 Dishes)
Adult IDR 268,000
Senior IDR 228,000
Child IDR 188,000
3. Kintan Premium Buffet (28 Dishes)
Adult IDR 368,000
Senior IDR 320,000
Child IDR 188,000
4. Special Wagyu Buffet (34 Dishes)
Adult IDR 488,000
Senior IDR 428,000
Child IDR 228,000
N.B. The numbers listed next to the sets doesn't imply that you are limited to only order up to that amount of dishes. It is the number of the variety of meats that we can order from the menu.
We took the Kintan Buffet set which allowed us to choose up to 18 dishes, but since some of the meats have been sold out already, we were allowed to choose several other meat selections from other sets. Wow, thank you!
We were only allowed to order 2 plates of meat per person for the first-order, which I found was pretty weird, since either way, we can order as much as we want for the second-order onwards. But oh well, whatever, it doesn't really affect us in any way.
Aside from the meats, we were also given the choice to order rice out of the menu, the Kintan Rice and Steamed Rice. I was intrigued on how the Kintan Rice actually tastes like, so I went with it, but I never found out how it tastes like until the end of our visit since my order never came out.
I was pretty disappointed with the Chicken Karaage as it is actually one of my favourite dishes, and they managed to mess it up by making it too hard and dry. The Yakisoba was also too mushy in my opinion. However, the Veggie Tempuras and
Now, it's time for some grilling action to happen! We actually ordered a lot, and ended up forgetting what were the meats that we have ordered, but everything was there on our table. We probably have ordered approximately 39 plates of meats or more, plus all of the side dishes we took from the bar.
One of the main worries from going to a BBQ restaurant has got to be the fear of having the smell of smoke and BBQ meats all over your body. But I did notice that they used a pretty advanced grilling device which sucks up the smokes right from the small gaping holes on the side of the grills, preventing the smokes from piping up and getting all over the customers.
I mean, you could still probably smell a little bit like BBQ meat, but hey! At least it is not that strong at all. And that's gonna be there for you at any other BBQ places as well (which could probably be even worse).
The meats were pretty good, and good as in the seasonings that came along with them. The meats were already dipped in spicy miso sauce, pepper or garlic depending on the ones you chose from the menu.
We mostly got ourselves the beef and the lamb, even though they had chicken meat listed on the menu as well. Why? I don't even know, we just did. And out of our own carelessness, we have burnt several of the meats or even overcooked them. Yes, and we're sorry for that.
I actually wanted to get some salad and lettuce leaves to go along with the meat, but unfortunately they have run out of them by the time I was about to get them. Probably because we came too late in the evening as well.
As a condiment for the BBQ-ed meat, you can get yourselves some chilli sauce available at the side dishes bar back to your table. You can dip the meat in it and voila, DAYUM GOOD!
Halfway eating, it started to rain very hard outside, which made it feel so much better eating BBQ. Do you get what I mean? That warm and fuzzy feeling inside while looking out to the rain from the window, and hearing some sizzling sound from the grills. Ah, that's it.
It sure feels good eating warm BBQ while it's raining outside.
